Jean Currey

Jean Currey - Violin

Jean Currey, violin, began studying violin at the age of seven. She began playing in the El Paso Symphony as a teenager under the direction of Maestro Abraham Chavez, who also became her private instructor.  In 1982, she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.

In 1988, Jean began serving as the Principal Violist in the El Paso Symphony and toured Germany under the baton of EPSO's new maestro, Gurer Aykal. She remained in this position until her move to Fort Collins in 1996.

String Quartet Con Brio welcomed Jean as a permanent member in 2006. She plays regularly with the Greeley Philharmonic and also performs periodically with Larimer Chorale and the Cheyenne and Fort Collins Symphonies.  Most recently, she's been playing in "the band" at Fort Collins' Midtown Arts Center dinner theater.  Jean can also be seen and heard singing alto in Fort Collins' Laudamus Chamber Chorale.

Jean is married to Larry, an accomplished trumpet player, and has two grown children as well as two beautiful grand-daughters.  Pictures are always available upon request.
